Back in the Business

Hey guys,

As you noticed, I disappeared for a bit, but I want to let you know I'm back in action. I had a really busy and stressful period with work, school, and life that kept me away for the past few weeks.

The good news is that I was busy in part because I was completing samples and interviewing for a job as a copy writer at 38 Studios, and I just accepted the offer this week! Starting on June 13th, I will *get paid* to write content for fans as well as do quite a bit of editorial and documentation work for internal teams as we develop products in the world of Amalur.

If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend checking out the PAX East demo of Reckoning. It's an open world RPG with action combat, and it looks like it's going to be great. View the demo.

Thank you for putting up with my sporadic participation!

*IMPORTANT* New Art Process Consideration

Hey all,

I attended GDC last year and a programmer from Epic was talking about procedural buildings. Artists create modular building blocks and designers can define building shapes using volumes in the editor, and then you can tell it how many rows you want, etc. I thought this was just about the most awesome thing I had ever seen, but considered it a pipe dream that only Epic new about. It seems that it may already be a feature in UDK! We shall read up on the details and if this is possible it will save so much time. We can still have some more iconic and unique buildings, but this is good for filling in the in-betweens and has quick and effective results.

Here is the UDK documentation:

Niels van Haandel back in action

Hello All,

Due to a miscommunication between me and Tobias he was unaware that I was on a holiday the past 10 days. I'm alive, healthy, tanned and ready to get going again. I hope this didn't caused too much problems.

Niels van Haandel missing in action

Niels van Haandel has become missing in action, due to not responding or having any activity for weeks. His accounts has been disabled, and he should be considered as no longer part of the project.
